PITTSBURGH — Gear up for a busy weather weekend, with snow and steady rain Saturday and another blast of cold air and more snow for Sunday.

Steady light snow will push into the area early Saturday morning, with areas north and west of Pittsburgh most likely to see an inch or more. A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for areas north of Pittsburgh including Beaver, Butler, Armstrong and Indiana counties and the ridges of Westmoreland and Fayette.

By mid-day, snow will flip over to rain from Pittsburgh points south, with most areas seeing rain by mid-afternoon.

There will be lulls in the rain Saturday but have the umbrella with you as heavy rain will take over at times Saturday night and then again Sunday. As much as 1″ to 2″ of rain will fall this weekend and could create localized flooding along creeks, streams, low lying areas and rivers.

Colder air and gusty winds move in Sunday changing rain back to snow with a quick drop in temperatures which could lead to icy spots late Sunday and early Monday morning.

Early next week looks quiet but very cold for mid February standards with highs only in the low 20s.
