PITTSBURGH — Hopefully you got to soak in some sun today...it may be a while before we see much again.
Clear skies this evening will allow for a colder night. Most areas should dip into the mid-30s by morning. Clouds quickly fill back in Tuesday, with showers arriving by the early afternoon. Some of the initial rain may be heavy at times, with steady light rain expected throughout New Years Eve.
As temperatures fall overnight, rain will switch over to snow showers by Wednesday morning and continue off and on much of the day. Snow will have a hard time sticking in the lower elevations, but several inches may accumulate over the mountains by Wednesday night.
Another weak system could bring us light snow Friday morning, followed by single digit wind chills early Saturday. The month of January is looking quite chilly as repeated rounds of Arctic air pour into the United States.
