PITTSBURGH — Sidney Crosby is now the Pittsburgh Penguins’ all-time assist leader.

Crosby’s assist went to Michael Bunting for a goal against the New York Islanders during their game Sunday night.

The Penguins said it was his 1,034th career assist. He surpassed Mario Lemieux for the record.

Crosby ranks fourth all-time in assists with one team, our partners at PGHHockeyNOW report.

He almost broke the record during Saturday’s game with an assist but it was called back and the credit was given only to Rikard Rakell.
