PITTSBURGH — A University of Pittsburgh forward will be joining the Pittsburgh Riveters.
Ava Boyd, 19, will be on the city’s first USL W League team in 2025.

Boyd played at Pine-Richland High School before moving to Pitt’s team. She is no stranger to the Riverhounds/Riveters organization. She played for the Riverhounds Development Academy’s Elite Clubs National League Team.
“We know the qualities that Ava will bring to the group and we are looking forward to welcoming her back to the club. She is a very strong forward and has pace, power, and an eye for goal. Ava will add depth to our attacking options and we can’t wait to get started,” Riveters head coach Scott Gibson said.

She transferred to Pitt after playing for Michigan State for a year. She appeared in all 16 of the Panthers’ matches she was in.

Boyd’s roster spot is pending USL and U.S. Soccer approval.
The Riveters will have their first game at Highmark Stadium in May.
