PITTSBURGH — Temperatures will reach the low to mid-teens in the afternoon, wind chills around near zero later this afternoon. Lows will be back to the single digits tonight and wind chills will drop below zero to start the day Thursday morning.
Increasing clouds Thursday, highs will reach the mid 20s with wind chills in the teens in the afternoon. A few light scattered snow showers are possible late in the evening that will bring slippery spots for travel.
This bitter cold air should begin to lift out of the area for the end of the week. The weekend will still be on the cold just not as frigid, highs will remain below average with temperatures around the freezing mark or just above.
Make sure to be prepared for the cold weather. Use caution when traveling, make sure to have extra layers and a blanket with you, limit time outdoors, and keep pets inside. Don’t forget to protect pipes as they could freeze in this extended cold stretch.
