PITTSBURGH — Expect clouds this evening with a few flurries in spots and temperatures are around 30°. Overnight clouds break a little more to a mostly cloudy sky. Lows will fall to the low to mid-20s.
Clouds break for more sunshine on Monday, nice and calm but cold with highs in the mid-30s. Clouds will increase Monday night ahead of the next weather maker that will slide by to our south Tuesday bringing a chance for snow showers to portions of our viewing area.
Scattered snow showers are possible in Pittsburgh on Tuesday, but the bulk of this system stays to our south. Expect more snow showers mainly south of I-70 with some light accumulation that could cover roads and bring slippery travel. Higher snow impacts will likely be south of the PA/WV line with several inches of snow possible in Preston County where a Winter Storm Watch is in effect from 10 a.m. Tuesday through 11 a.m. Wednesday. The track of this system may change as this system develops, so make sure to check in ahead of the chance for snow on Tuesday.
Snow showers early Wednesday will mix with scattered rain showers by the afternoon as temperatures slowly warm up above the freezing mark later in the day. Steady rain is then expected late Wednesday into Thursday morning before ending. Thursday morning wake-up temperatures will be around 40° and then fall through the day as colder air rushes in for the end of the work week.
The next system that will impact our area will come late Friday night into the start of the weekend.
