Local interior designer accused of stealing thousands of dollars from customers

ALLEGHENY COUNTY, Pa. — A local interior designer is facing charges after she allegedly stole thousands of dollars from customers across Allegheny County.

The most recent filing from the district attorney’s office says she stole $45,000 from her customer.

There are apparently several victims all over Allegheny County.

“As opposed to responding that day or the day after it was a week. Two weeks. Oh things things are on back order,” Brandon Mahler said.

Mahler told Channel 11 over Zoom about when he first started feeling skeptical about the interior designer that he and his wife hired back in 2022.

“Two lamps showed up and a rug that we kept. Then nothing else. Then the weeks were turning into months,” Mahler said.

According to police, the designer is Lauren Piasecki, the owner of Black Cherry Designs.

She is facing several charges from multiple victims who claim they paid her to decorate their home — and she never did, and never repaid the money.

Mahler says she still owes him more than $13,000.

Police say she stole $160,000 from another couple.

According to police, she sent one of her clients an email saying that she undeniably has fallen short of her promises and obligations made to you… This is not typical nor do I think it’s acceptable to do business this way.”

Yet that costumer, according to police, has still never been paid.

According to police, she spent a lot of this money on personal expenses, like bars and restaurants, Ubers and Amazon purchases.
