PITTSBURGH — A fugitive from Crafton Heights was arrested Thursday.
The Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office said Murray Watts, 46, has been on the run since June 2022 when two bench warrants were issued for probation violations on two different cases involving drug charges. He also had an active warrant out of Pittsburgh from December 2023 involving more than a dozen drug and firearms charges.
Shortly before 1 p.m. Thursday, sheriff’s office detectives saw Watts get into a car on Penn Avenue. Officials said they followed the car to Centre Avenue and Harvard Street, where Watts was seen getting out of the car carrying three bags.
Detectives took Watts into custody without incident.
The sheriff’s office said Watts had a gun in his waistband and two guns in one of the bags which were reported stolen. He also had 1,100 grams of suspect cocaine and 730 grams of suspected marijuana, among other items.
Watts was taken to the Allegheny County Jail. He faces additional charges of receiving stolen property, possession of drugs, possession of drugs with intent to deliver and two additional firearms violations.
