Pittsburgh Weather: Another round of heavy rain expected by Saturday evening

PITTSBURGH — The primary risk from storms today will be heavy rain, especially wherever storms train or move over the same areas. The highest coverage is expected around dinner time, 4-9 p.m., with storms capable of producing over one or even two inches of rain in a quick period of time.

LATEST INFORMATION:

9:45 p.m.: A Flash Flood Warning has been issued for parts of Butler and Armstrong counties.

6:20 p.m.: A Flash Flood Warning is in effect until 9:15 p.m. for parts of Fayette, Greene and Washington counties.

5:21 p.m.: In Baldwin Borough, Streets Run Road is closed between Brentwood Road and the City of Pittsburgh due to flooding.

5:07 p.m.: Parts of Armstrong, Indiana and Westmoreland counties are under a Severe Thunderstorm Warning until 6 p.m.

It’s a nicer and much more comfortable start to the day, but it won’t last! The air will get much more humid this afternoon, and the threat of storms will increase as a disturbance approaches.

The primary risk from storms today will be heavy rain, especially wherever storms train or move over the same areas. The highest coverage is expected around dinner time, 4-9 p.m., with storms capable of producing over one or even two inches of rain in a quick period of time.

Storms will exit by around midnight, with mostly dry weather expected Sunday. However, a quick line of showers and gusty storms may develop along a cold front as it crosses Sunday night. Rain and storms will exit after sundown, with much cooler air and drier air for Monday.

There will be neighborhoods that start out in the 40s Tuesday morning before a quick turnaround into the 80s by mid-week. Summer is not letting go just yet!
