Winter Storm Watch issued for some areas as significant icing could cause road, power issues

PITTSBURGH — We’re back to the heavier coats today as temperatures will be stuck in the 30s in most of the area.  We’ll see increasing amounts of sunshine going through the day, but a chilly north wind will keep temperatures down today.

Our next weathermaker moves in Wednesday night and Thursday. Winter Storm Watches have been posted for the ridges along with areas north of Allegheny County for freezing rain or a wintry mix. Significant icing could cause road and power issues.

Thunder will also be possible as warmer air tries to work into the area, but no severe weather is expected.  Everyone will see rain on Thursday as temperatures jump up quickly.

Back-and-forth temperatures will be a thing for the next few weeks as warmer intrusions of air try to battle against the cold that was locked into place most of January.
