Storms could bring damaging winds, heavy rain to Pittsburgh area Wednesday

PITTSBURGH — It’s very warm and windy, with scattered showers and storms.

Clouds may mix with some sun by the early afternoon, and this brief clearing could bring the chance for severe thunderstorms from the afternoon hours through early in the evening. If severe storms develop, they could produce damaging winds, hail, and an isolated tornado can’t be ruled out.

Colder air rushes in behind this system at night, changing light scattered rain showers to snow showers into Thursday morning. Temperatures will stay steady in the mid-30s on Thursday, with snow showers on and off throughout the day.
