Rain returns Tuesday before turning to snow Wednesday

PITTSBURGH — Rain will change to snow early Wednesday as temperatures fall from the 40s into the 20s by Wednesday night. A coating to less than 1″ of snow will accumulate on grassy areas during the day around Pittsburgh with a couple of inches of new snow possible east in the higher elevations.

Roads will be mainly wet during the day but may become icy late Wednesday evening and early Thursday as colder temperatures cause untreated surfaces to freeze.

Wind chills will drop into the single digits early Thursday morning, so make sure kids are ready for the cold with hats and gloves. It will be chilly again Friday with wind chills in the teens and 20s to start the day.
