Cold rain, wet roads could slow early Thanksgiving Day travel

PITTSBURGH — Cold rain and wet roads may slow your early Thanksgiving Day plans with wet snow mixing in at times, especially north of Pittsburgh.

Temperatures will hover in the upper 30s to lower 40s keeping the best chance of accumulating snow north towards I-80.

Steady rain will wrap up by lunchtime for most areas, with isolated showers possible for the afternoon.

Colder air settles in late Thursday night and early Friday morning so watch for a few slick spots if you head out to grab Black Friday shopping deals.

Have the extra layers with you too if you’re planning to get a Christmas tree or do holiday shopping as wind chills will stay in the 20s for most of the day.

That will be a good reminder to make sure your home is winterized as an even colder blast of air will be with us this weekend through early next week. High temperatures will struggle to get back to freezing and overnight lows will be in the teens.
