Sprinkles mixed with flurries likely through Tuesday

Winter Weather Impacts (10/17/22) A blast of cold air this week brings the chance for our first snow showers of the season.

PITTSBURGH — Some of you saw your first flakes of the season this morning as colder air has driven into the region.

Sprinkles mixed with flurries are likely through the day today. No accumulation is expected. The cold will be the bigger story with temperatures only recovering into the mid 40s, but gusty winds will make it feel like it’s in the 30s all day.

A reinforcing shot of cold air arrives tonight along with rain and snow showers. Snow showers early Wednesday morning could bring a dusting to rooftops, mulch beds and trees in spots. The best chance of seeing any snow stick the grassy surfaces is north of Allegheny County. The ridges could pick up a slushy half inch or so through the day Wednesday.
