LATEST: Thousands without power after severe storms move through western Pennsylvania

PITTSBURGH — Severe storms left a path of damage late Wednesday, with many trees down and power outage reports throughout the area.

Power is being restored to thousands of western Pennsylvanians.

Temperatures Thursday will rebound into the low 70s and we should see more sunshine by Thursday afternoon. Showers return early Friday and continue off and on through the day, but no severe weather is expected at this time.

The weekend will be dry but cooler and some areas could see patchy frost Sunday night into early Monday morning.

LATEST UPDATES:

9:50 p.m.:

The Tornado Watch has been canceled for the entire area.

9:12 p.m.:

Duquesne Light is now reporting more than 16,000 outages. West Penn Power is reporting more than 20,000 customers without power.

8:50 p.m.:

The National Weather Service just ended the Tornado Watch for Allegheny, Beaver, Butler and Lawrence counties.

8:45 p.m.:

Traffic lights are out in Elizabeth Township, according to police.

8:30 p.m.:

The Severe Thunderstorm Warning has expired.

8:15 p.m.:

The National Weather Service offered the following update:

8:05 p.m.:

The National Weather Service issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for parts of Greene and Washington counties.

8 p.m.:

As of 8 p.m., Duquesne Light is reporting more than 8,000 outages.

West Penn Power is reporting more than 2,000.
