Feds: Companies can legally offer incentives for employee vaccinations

WASHINGTON — We’ve seen Allegheny County offer $100 bonuses to employees who get vaccinated.

Companies like McDonalds are giving workers up to four hours of paid time off to get the shot.

The federal government says it is all perfectly legal. The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission said employers are allowed to give incentives to workers who voluntarily provide proof of vaccination and that there is no limit to the size of those incentives.

However, companies are not allowed to make employees “feel pressured” to reveal protected medical information.

Around 52% of adults in the US are fully vaccinated.
