Man mistakes car for UberEats delivery driver, is shot outside Greyhound station, police say

PITTSBURGH — A man was shot in the foot late Wednesday night outside of the Greyhound station in downtown Pittsburgh.

Police say he believed the car he was trying to get into was an UberEats delivery driver. The people inside the car got into a fight with him and a gun was fired.

Police said the driver then took off. The car was found unoccupied in Butler and was towed by the Pittsburgh Police Auto Squad.

Greyhound riders that Channel 11 talked to say it’s time to add some more security and cameras in the area.

“I just saw police lights and people just kept talking about somebody got shot,” this rider shared. “It can get pretty dangerous.”

Channel 11 talked to a jitney driver who said he’s seen stabbings and fights outside this station.  On Thursday, blood was still all over the sidewalk from the shooting. Briana Figueroa says it’s nerve-wracking.

“I was actually on the bus and when I showed up here it was the talk of the town,” Figueroa said.

She said she had waited for hours to get home with no reason given by Greyhound.

“They’ve canceled my bus now twice,” Figueroa adds. “I’m waiting for them to Uber me home because my bus got canceled.”

The man who was shot was interviewed in the hospital by violent crimes detectives. He is expected to be okay.

So far, no arrests have been made in connection to the case.

This shooting comes just a few months after Attorney General’s Office agents shot a man outside of the Greyhound Station in December.

The agents were undercover on an unrelated sting operation when they saw 32-year-old Rayshon Mason trying to stab another man. Agents shot Mason in the chest and stomach. He was last listed in critical condition and charged with attempted homicide and aggravated assault.
