17-year-old girl shot in Aliquippa

Police sources confirm a 17-year-old girl was shot on Irwin Street in Aliquippa early Wednesday morning.

Yellow crime scene tape blocked off the street for hours as state police and Aliquippa police investigated the shooting.

Sources say the girl and her boyfriend had just gotten out of a white car around 5 a.m. when there was a hail of gunfire from across the street.

It woke up neighbors.

“Well, in the summertime, we often play ‘Is it gunfire or fireworks and firecrackers?’” said Beth Ann. “Early in the evening, you can’t always tell, but that late at night has to be gunfire. It was like a sharp cracking sound.”

Bullet holes could be seen in a fence. Multiple shell casings from different weapons were found, indicating more than one shooter.

As of now, police have not made any arrests.
