PITTSBURGH — A woman is dead after an incident that happened inside a UPMC parking garage in Shadyside.
Channel 11 saw a tow truck taking a silver Hyundai out of the garage at Shadyside Place on South Aiken Avenue. The vehicle was damaged, and a tarp was placed over the window.
On Friday, the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the woman who died as Theresa M Phillips, 79, of Plum.
A UPMC spokesperson called the situation a tragic accident.
“We are deeply saddened by the tragic accident this morning in the parking garage at Shadyside Place, a medical and physician office building on South Aiken Avenue in Shadyside. While emergency crews quickly responded, the victim did not survive. Our deepest sympathies are with the family,” a UPMC spokesperson said.
