Woman accused of hitting person with her vehicle, crashing into construction equipment while DUI

ASPINWALL, Pa. — A woman is accused of hitting another woman with her vehicle and crashing into construction equipment while driving under the influence.

“You’re at risk when other people put themselves at risk. It’s terrible,” Alyssa Melani told Channel 11.

Alyssa Melani lives in Fox Chapel and is talking about the crash that happened late last night on Freeport Road.

Aspinwall police say Kiarra Kidd was driving under the influence and crashed into construction equipment on the road.

The fire chief posted photos of the crash on social media. The front end of Kidd’s car was smashed in.

According to investigators, Kidd also hit a woman who was trying to get her to stop driving — it’s unclear where exactly the woman was when Kidd’s car hit her.

That woman was taken to the hospital and is going to survive.

“You don’t know what other people are doing when you’re driving, so you have to trust other people are alert,” Melani said.

Detectives tell Channel 11 that when officers responded to the scene, they could smell a strong alcohol odor and marijuana, and saw THC gummies in the car.
