CARNEGIE, Pa. — The manager of Carnegie Motors is offering a $1,000 reward to help police find the person who used a pellet gun to shoot and damage a window at its location on Chestnut Street.
Surveillance cameras inside the auto shop captured the moment the pellet hit the window, shattering the top of it.
Manager Lee Bodnar told Channel 11 that whoever was firing the pellet gun hit other parts of the property and was shooting for several minutes. He noticed the damage when he came in on Sunday.
“I thought it was just one of the big trucks moving around the lot, hit it, but I had my wife look on the cameras and discovered it was shot out, unfortunately,” Bodnar said.
The business was closed at the time of the incident, so no one was hurt.
“At least nobody got hit. That would hurt if you got hit, or if my kid got hit, and there are things on the lot like cars, I have a giant propane tank. Things could escalate,” Bodnar said.
Bodnar found what was left of the ammo near the window ledge. While he doesn’t believe his business was specifically targeted, other parts of the property were also shot at.
“I don’t feel it was a malicious attack, which I mean, makes it feel a little better, but it’s just unfortunate that somebody was shooting for 20 minutes,” Bodnar said.
Bodnar plans to add even more cameras to his property to try to prevent something like this from happening again.
“When you are dealing with a firearm of any caliber, you need to be safe and know what you’re pointing at because somebody could be hurt,” Bodnar said.
