MONESSEN, Pa. — The Monessen School District is investigating an “inappropriate” incident involving a staff member and a student.

The district said they were made aware of allegations of “inappropriate physical contact” between a staff member and a student.

The interaction was not sexual and the student was not harmed, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Robert Motte said.

“Monessen School District takes all reports of this nature seriously. Ensuring the safety and well-being of our students remains our top priority. As this involves a personnel matter, we are unable to provide further details at this time. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we work through this process,” Motte said.

The staff member facing the allegations has been placed on leave.
