Washington County public official arrested on prostitution charges in Ohio

Nearly 70 miles from his home in Washington, Patrick Geho was booked in the Columbiana County jail.

“The situation is not good for the county, we found out last night,” said Larry Maggi, a Washington County Commissioner.

Washington County Commissioners found out about the arrest days after it happened. Geho serves as the County’s Director of Public Information and told detectives that when he was booked in Ohio.

“Nobody wins in a situation like this; he’s innocent until proven guilty, we know that, but the fact we are embroiled in this situation, part of it is just a lose, lose situation,” Maggi said.

Geho is charged with engaging in prostitution and possession of criminal tools after detectives said he responded to an undercover ad to purchase sex.

“He had the cell phone that contained communications he had reaching out to try to arrange to buy sex and he had the cash on him and showed up at the time and place,” said Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost.

It’s all part of the Ohio Attorney General’s promise to go after human trafficking across the state. Yost told Channel 11 that the Mahoning Valley, where Geho was taken into custody, is a hotbed for these arrests.

“It’s especially distressing to see someone in our government doing this. We trust the people in our government to enforce the rule, not break it,” Yost said.

Maggi said that Geho is currently suspended from his position at the county.
