PITTSBURGH — A teenager is facing charges on accusations he accidentally shot his brother while they were playing with guns on Saturday night.
Allegheny County 911 dispatchers told Channel 11 that first responders were sent to the 6200 block of East Liberty Blvd, in Pittsburgh’s Larimer neighborhood around 10:30 p.m. Saturday. A Pittsburgh police official said a male in his “early teens” was found shot in the head and was taken to a hospital. As of Saturday night, he was listed in grave condition.
Court documents obtained by Channel 11 allege Jordan Mosley, 16, was the one to call 911, saying he shot his 14-year-old brother in the head. When officers got on scene, the criminal complaint states Mosley told them “I accidentally shot my brother” and no one else was in the home.
Mosley’s brother was found lying in the living room with a gunshot wound to the head. Officers also located two handguns in plain view, one of which “appeared to be covered with fresh blood.”
Police detained Mosely and brought him to police headquarters to be interviewed while his father was present.
According to the complaint, during the interview, Mosley told police he and his brother were playing with two guns, which weren’t loaded, and trying to disarm each other. When they thought they heard someone coming, they put the magazines back into the guns, but when they realized no one was, they kept playing but didn’t take the magazines back out.
During this time, the complaint states Mosley pulled the trigger once, but the gun didn’t fire. He then cocked the gun and pulled the trigger again, shooting his brother in the mouth.
Mosley is facing charges of possessing a firearm as a minor, recklessly endangering another person and aggravated assault. He is being held at the Allegheny County Jail without bail.
