GREENSBURG, Pa. — The sentencing of a former Greensburg police chief who pleaded guilty to drug charges has been postponed for a second time.

In April, Shawn Denning, of Delmont, pleaded guilty to conspiring to distribute more than 50 grams of methamphetamine and a quantity of cocaine.

Denning was charged after an audit happened in February 2023. Detectives found a single backpack with various illegal steroids and suspected psilocybin mushrooms that were missing.

Investigators said that Denning had access to this room as the chief, and the backpack was part of a drug case in which he was the investigating officer.

Denning was originally scheduled to be sentenced on Aug. 13, 2024. A motion was approved to reschedule that sentencing to Dec. 18, 2024.

According to court documents, that sentencing has been delayed for a second time. The new motion has Denning’s sentencing scheduled for April 17 at 10 a.m.
