Body of 12-year-old boy recovered from Monongahela River in Donora

DONORA, Pa. — The body of a 12-year-old boy was recovered from the Monongahela River in Donora.

A Washington County 911 official said the search began just before 11 a.m. on Saturday.

Officials said a group of friends called 911 at that time. They were swimming in the river and noticed that the boy had disappeared.

Just before 6 p.m., members of the Murrysville Medic One Dive Team said the 12-year-old boy was recovered after several hours of searching.

Washington County Coroner Timothy Warco identified him as Rontae Lester of Donora.

Lester was found on a riverbed just before 3:30 p.m., officials said.

The Donora Borough Police Department is investigating.
