Rain showers, wintry mix to move through region on Sunday afternoon

PITTSBURGH — It’s a chilly start to the day, with temperatures in the 20s. Highs will bounce back into the 40s this afternoon, but before that happens, a brief wintry mix or snow may occur, mainly north of Pittsburgh, closer to the 422 corridor, between 2 and 4 p.m.

Slick spots are possible in these areas. Light rain is expected mainly in the city and points south. Areas close to I-70 may not see much if any precipitation as the bulk of the system will pass north. We’ll stay cloudy tonight with steady temperatures in the 30s.

A warmer Monday with highs pushing into the mid and possibly upper 50s will end with the next cold front Monday night. The next system will move in Wednesday, spreading light and possibly mixed precipitation for some areas, depending on how fast warmer air floods in.

An active week of weather could bring another round of rain or snow to end the week.
