PITTSBURGH — A downed power line near South Hills Junction forced Pittsburgh Regional Transit to shut down much of its rail service on Wednesday morning.
By 10:30, PRT reported all inbound lanes are back open, and the blue, red and silver lines were running on a single track with slight delays.
However, the suspension prompted some frustration from commuters trying to get to work.
“You know, I woke up this morning thinking it’s gonna be a fine and dandy morning to work,” commuter Tyler Clipner said. “Now I’m just wondering how I’m gonna get to work, honestly.”
PRT brought buses to operate from Library to Washington Junction, and from Washington Junction to South Hills Junction.
However, some riders decided to forgo working from home.
“My boss said I could work from home,” one rider said.
Others still planned to make the trip into downtown despite the inconvenience.
“I like to go in person,” commuter Lauren Meyers said. “I have a couple in-person meetings today. I have the flexibility, if need be, but I’m just gonna go in.”
One commuter, Joseph Tichler, says he’ll make do with the changes.
“It’s a little inconvenient, but you know we understand these kinds of things happen.”
