Popular Beaver County Mexican restaurant targeted in immigration raid

ROCHESTER, Pa. — A popular Beaver County Mexican restaurant was the target of an immigration raid on Wednesday.

1942 Tacos and Tequila is located on Ohio River Boulevard in Rochester Borough.

Just before noon, Channel 11 viewers spotted federal agents in the parking lot.

The FBI Pittsburgh Office confirmed they were there in a statement:

“The FBI was conducting immigration enforcement operations in the Rochester Borough area today in support of and alongside our partners at the Department of Homeland Security.

The FBI in Pittsburgh continues to provide investigative, technical, and analytical support to our partners at the Department of Homeland Security in their immigration operations all over the region as directed by the Attorney General."

“We were really surprised,” Naudia North told Channel 11.

She had gone to the restaurant to pick up a DoorDash order while the raid was happening.

“Some guy and female from the government came up to us with badges and asked if we worked there,” she said. “They told us ICE had raided the building and everyone was gone. All the workers left.”

It’s still unclear how many people, if any, were detained.

Channel 11 also reached out to Congressman Chris Deluzio’s office. A spokesperson told us they learned about today’s activity from community members and are looking into the situation.
