MCCANDLESS, Pa. — A suspect who fled from a traffic stop in McCandless Township was taken into custody after a large search near North Park Tuesday afternoon.
Northern Regional Police Chief Bryan DeWick said McCandless police attempted a traffic stop on McKinney Road, where the driver refused to pull over. The driver eventually ditched his vehicle and fled on foot into the wooded area surrounding McKinney Soccer Fields in North Park.
Our crews saw a large police presence on Ashley Hill Drive in McCandless before authorities cleared the scene.
Multiple public safety agencies and several K9s assisted in the search.
Wexford Elementary School was put on lockdown at the time as a precaution.
