Allegheny County dispatchers said crews were called to the 1000 block of Eighth Avenue at 12:54 p.m. on Wednesday.

Sources say that is where a vehicle crashed over a hillside and landed on its roof in a small creek. That vehicle was involved in a police chase through multiple Allegheny County communities.

The suspect is in custody. Firefighters used ropes to get him back up the hillside.

Surveillance video shared with Channel 11 shows a blue car leading two police officers on a chase, not far from the Giant Eagle on Route 8 in Shaler.

When the car gets to the top of the hill, it flies off of it, and straight into the creek, landing on its roof.

Fire crews had to rescue the driver with a rope, then loaded him into an ambulance.

“All of a sudden, this guy’s car comes flying out and comes right up the hill toward me,” Tracey Sacco told Channel 11.

Sacco was going on a walk at the time of the chase.

If you look closer at the surveillance video, you can see her dart across the street just seconds before the car speeds up the hill.

“I thought I’m going to get hit! I ran to get out of the way and he just flew by,” she said

She saw what happened next…

“I could see when he went in there, he just looks like he got airborne. I thought he was dead to be honest… he was going fast,” Sacco added. we

We know the chase went through several North Hills communities, but we are still working to find out what started it and who the driver is.
