Police looking for 2 suspects seen on Ross Township Best Buy roof overnight

Ross Township Police were called to Best Buy around midnight Thursday night along McKnight Road because the burglar alarm went off.

When officers showed up, police said they spotted two suspects on the roof of the store. Police said the suspects were trying to break in by entering through the roof.

“I mean that’s insane,” said Zachary Morgenstern. “Why try from the roof like James Bond or something?”

The suspects got away before officers could surround the building and get on the roof.

In an exclusive video, you can see officers on the roof investigating. They also put up a drone to search for the suspects.

Surrounding departments also responded to the area last night including McCandless, Shaler and Allegheny County police.

Customers were shocked.

“Just to steal electronics what are you going to get through the roof, TVs?” said Steve Fox, Best Buy customer.

We learned a similar crime just happened about a month ago in eastern Pennsylvania in Wyomissing, Berks County. According to Berks Weekly, police said thieves came in through the roof at Best Buy there and stole more than $100,000 worth of electronics.

We found other reports of burglars targeting best buys across the country who are possibly part of a nationwide ring.

We saw cases in Alabama, Los Angeles, Georgia, Florida, Texas and Arkansas in the last few years.

Right now, police are combing through surveillance footage.

Ross Township Police are still investigating and do not know if the burglary is connected to other best buy burglaries.
