SHARPSBURG, Pa. — A Pittsburgh Regional Transit driver is off the job and facing charges after a passenger says she was dragged and thrown from a bus.
According to detectives, Port Authority police charged one of their own bus drivers, Jesse White, after they say he was behind the wheel of a bus — when he and a passenger began arguing about where she was going to be dropped off.
White was allegedly driving with the door open on Main Street in Sharpsburg, and as the woman was getting off, police say she pulled out a water bottle and threatened White with it.
That’s when police say the passenger was able to get off, but her bag got stuck in the door, and White dragged her along the road.
At some point, the woman was able to get back onto the front of the bus. Police say White started to drive off again and the woman fell and rolled off the bus.
A witness told investigators he began hitting the side of the bus, and another car began honking in order to get White to stop driving.
Now, he’s charged with felony aggravated assault.
The woman was also charged with simple assault, which is a misdemeanor.
