Police said he would give women drugs for meeting with clients and withhold them from addicted women who could become ill without them if they refused to meet with clients. Police said he would also threaten them with violence. He made money off of these meetings, the Department of Justice said. He was believed to have done this with at least four women.

“Eric Jefferson forced these women to earn money on his behalf, controlling the victims both through physical force and exploiting their dependence upon narcotics,” said Acting United States Attorney Rivetti. “Working with our law enforcement partners, we will aggressively prosecute human traffickers such as Jefferson in order to protect and rescue the most vulnerable victims in our district.”

Jefferson was sentenced to 25 years in prison.
