PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh residents participated in a holiday sendoff event at the site of the city’s newest attraction.
Visitors came to Mellon Square to participate in Pittsburgh Parks’ Saturday In the Square Season Send-Off. They enjoyed a concert featuring Coltt Winter Lepley and Dave Shepherd.
It also gave them a chance to see the city’s newest attraction, the Aurora Light display.
“The beautiful, historic, Mellon Square, has often been closing during the winter due to icy conditions, but we’ve decided to open it up this year for the first time ever and participate in Light-Up Night and all the wonderful programming Downtown,” said Rafe Shaffer with Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy.
The Aurora installation will stay up through mid-January.
