Petition seeks to extend Pennsylvania’s skill games stay through Feb. 10

A group of state lawmakers and industry groups are asking the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania to push back the deadline for businesses to get rid of skill games.

Filed Friday, the petition comes after Pennsylvania lawmakers held their last scheduled voting day and didn’t pass new regulations.

So, the games used by social clubs, bars and gas stations would become illegal on Tuesday if the deadline isn’t extended.

The court filing asks for the deadline to be pushed back until Feb. 10

It states that legislative compromise regulating skill games is in the works, and getting rid of skill games in the meantime would impede the process.

Many businesses and organizations use the games as a source of revenue.

Officials estimate there are about 70,000 skill games throughout Pennsylvania.
