PITTSBURGH — A teenager died at the hospital after he was shot in Pittsburgh’s Hill District Thursday night.
Allegheny County dispatchers said crews were called to the 2300 block of Wylie Avenue at 8:51 p.m.
Pittsburgh Public Safety said when emergency crews arrived, they found a male who had been shot in the chest and leg.
The victim was taken to a hospital in critical condition, where he later died.
On Friday morning, the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as Joseph Powell, 17, of Beechview.
SWAT was then called to the scene as police looked for a suspect or suspects.
Channel 11 saw two people detained at the scene, including a 22-year-old man who was shot in the leg. We have blurred their faces because no charges have been filed at this time. They both were taken in for questioning.
Pittsburgh police continue to investigate.
