Witnesses told Channel 11 a customer inside the building who was looking outside was struck by the crashed vehicle. They said the customer was carried out of the building and taken to the hospital.

Police believe that the driver of the vehicle was likely having an overdose at the time of the crash.

A witness told Channel 11, he heard a crash from his apartment, and came outside to check on people.

He went over to the truck, where he saw the driver slumped over the steering wheel.

“His head was laying on the steering wheel. I’m not authorized, so I didn’t ant to hurt him or do anything, so I just stepped back. He looked like he was out. Then they finally got him out of the truck, and laid him on the sidewalk. He wasn’t responsive, but I believed they used Narcan,” James Swaney, a witness, told Channel 11.

At this point, the driver has not been charged.

Channel 11 spoke with a customer who was inside the salon when the truck smashed into the window. She didn’t want to share her identity because she was too shaken up.

“It was like a loud boom, a loud crash. It’s something you would hear out of an action movie, but it wasn’t. It was real,” said the witness.

She added that it appeared that the customer who was hit hut her leg.

Emergency crews reported to McKees Rocks after receiving calls about the accident at 10:52, Friday morning.
