O’Connor outraises Gainey 3 months out from mayoral primary election, finance reports show

Corey O'Connor

PITTSBURGH — Channel 11 is following the money in the Pittsburgh mayor’s race, and Corey O’Connor just had a big January.

O’Connor and incumbent Mayor Ed Gainey just filed their January campaign finance reports.

The filings show O’Connor raising $464,000 in January, while Gainey raised $23,600.

With just over three months until the Democratic mayoral primary election, the mayor has $236,000 on hand while challenger O’Connor has $680,000.

We reached out to the Gainey campaign for comment. The mayor tells Channel 11 in part “I was elected after being outraised four to one because of the people-powered coalition that has only grown as I’ve delivered for the regular people of this city as mayor — and we’re ready to do it all over again.”
