Man in custody after SWAT situation in Harrison Township

HARRISON TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A man is in custody after a SWAT situation in the Natrona area of Harrison Township that started early Tuesday morning.

Investigators said Harrison Township police tried to serve a warrant to a man who was armed with multiple knives in a home along Linden Street. He refused to leave the house.

SWAT officers deployed an irritant into the home, causing the man to run outside with the knives, heading toward officers.

The man, who police have identified as Lonny Pittman, 47, was taken into custody at 2:20 p.m. after officers used bean bag rounds and a taser.

Pittman is charged with aggravated assault of a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest.

He was taken to a local hospital for evaluation.
