PITTSBURGH — A man is dead after an officer-involved shooting in Allentown Friday morning.

According to Allegheny County Police, on December 24 officers were called for a report of a man armed with a gun in the 800 block of E Warrington Avenue.
During an investigation into that incident, officers learned that the man had previous felony convictions and was not able to possess a firearm.
Pittsburgh Police then got a search warrant for the man and the apartment on E Warrington Avenue.
Around 6:00 a.m. Friday, the Pittsburgh Police SWAT team tried to serve that warrant. Police say that the man fired shots at officers. They returned fire and the man barricaded inside the apartment.
During the standoff situation, a second officer-involved shooting occurred and the man was found dead at the scene.
The Allegheny County Police Department’s Homicide Unit has started an investigation. The status of the officers involved in the incident will be determined by Pittsburgh Police in accordance with their policies and procedures.
