Man, 60, dead after moped crash on Bloomfield Bridge

PITTSBURGH — A man is dead after crashing his moped on the Bloomfield Bridge in Polish Hill Thursday morning.

The crash happened near the Bigelow Boulevard side of the bridge on the inbound side around 6:30 a.m.

Public Safety Officials said the initial investigation showed that a 60-year-old man lost control of his moped while driving outbound on the bridge toward Bigelow Boulevard. He struck the center jersey barrier and was thrown over the divider into the inbound lanes.

The bridge was shut down in both directions while detectives investigated.
