Monongahela police officer gets into profanity-laced altercation with school bus driver

MONONGAHELA, Pa. — A Monongahela Police Officer is making headlines for all the wrong reasons after a video was shared online showing a confrontation he had with a school bus driver while he was off duty.

The video is full of profanities and happened with a bus full of kids as witnesses right outside of Madonna Catholic Elementary School.

We’re told the bus driver asked the man to pull off to the side of the road out of the middle of the lane. You can see the off-duty officer approach the bus, cursing at the bus driver and telling him he’s an officer and to give him his ID.

A lot of folks in town had already seen the video and heard about what happened.

For those who had not, we showed them. Raheeza Majeed has a daughter in elementary school. Her jaw dropped.

“They’re the ones in charge of protecting and serving,” Majeed tells Channel 11. “Are you serving the community when you’re screaming profanities in front of kids?”

She said what’s even more disturbing is that kids had to witness all of this.

“They hear those words, but you don’t want them having those interactions around them,” Majeed added. “They’re feeling anxious, nervous, like ‘Am I safe on the school bus?’”

The Monongahela Police Department says they’ve extended the offer to the school to help ease tensions outside of Madonna Catholic during busy drop-off and pick-up times.

Some folks we talked to say they’d like to see more of what led up to this confrontation, but most agreed; the cop was out of line.

“That’s not how you act,” Majeed said. “It’s one of those jobs when you’re a nurse, doctor, police officer - you hold yourself to a standard on and off the job.”

Since this is a personnel matter, the city isn’t able to tell us the officer’s name or if he’s currently on the job.
