Millvale Police find wanted man; sources say he’s person of interest in recent fire

MILLVALE, Pa. — UPDATE 3/9/25: Millvale police say a man considered a person of interest in a Millvale house fire has been arrested.

The department says Steven Ebner was taken into custody at the Comfort Inn in O’Hara Township after a person recognized him from a local news broadcast.

Channel 11 obtained exclusive video showing the intense flames that tore through this Millvale home earlier this week — as firefighters worked to put it out.

Days later, sources tell Channel 11, that Stephen Ebner is a person of interest in setting the house on fire.

Faith Skryp lives in the row home two doors down.

“I was on the couch watching TV, and all of a sudden, I saw the lights. Then, pounding on my door, “Please get out, the house is on fire.”

Skryp told Channel 11, she’s seen Ebner before at the home. Neighbors tell us the woman who lives at the house is a hoarder.

In the backyard, there are statues, signs and other items that were burned by the flames.

Later that day, investigators say Ebner stole more than $10,000 from a man working at a nearby laundromat, who was collecting the cash from machines.

Plus, officers say he stole a car hours earlier.

In addition to both thefts, police now want to ask him if he set this home on fire, and Skryp has her own questions for him, too.

“Do you realize the danger you put this neighborhood in? Are you thinking about that?” She asked.

No one was hurt in the fire.
