PITTSBURGH — Pleasant and very comfortable this evening, the temperature will stay in the 70s through sunset. Nice overnight, lows will be in the 50s. Big changes are on the way as we begin to turn warmer on Father’s Day, highs will rise to the upper 80s Sunday afternoon.

A dangerous, prolonged heat wave is expected this week. Highs will soar into the 90s Monday through at least Friday and possibly extending into the weekend. The NWS has issued an Excessive Heat Watch for our area starting Monday morning and continuing through Friday evening. Heat index values may reach 100 degrees or above. Heat-related illnesses can increase significantly in extreme heat. Make sure to be prepared and find ways to keep you and your family cool. Make sure to stay out of the sun, stay in air-conditioning, keep hydrated, and keep pets out of the heat.
