ALIQUIPPA, Pa. — A man is wanted after police say he brutally assaulted and strangled another man inside a Beaver County VFW over the weekend.
The Aliquippa Police Department responded to the VFW at 211 Penn Avenue around 11:30 p.m. on Sunday. Police said the suspect, Brett Ours, 39, fled the scene before officers arrived.
Police said surveillance video of the incident shows Ours “viciously” attacking and strangling the victim for around 30 minutes. Authorities said the attack appeared to be unprovoked, and the victim was most likely unconscious and defenseless while being assaulted.
At some point, officers said Ours used a bar stool to assault and strangle the victim.
The victim was in and out of consciousness and life-flighted to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital.
As the investigation continues, police said that other people inside the bar also played a role in the assault. Details of their arrests will be released at a later time.
An arrest warrant has been issued for Ours. He’s charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault, strangulation, possessing instruments of crime and simple assault.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Ours is asked to call 911 or 724-775-0880. Ours also has a warrant out for his arrest through the Beaver County Sheriff’s Department.
Police said do not approach Ours as he is considered armed and dangerous.
