JEFFERSON HILLS, Pa. — A man is accused of trying to break into cars early on Monday morning in Jefferson Hills.
The Jefferson Hills Police Department says officers were sent to Bickerton Drive and Loyal Drive around 2 a.m. for a report of a man trying to get into vehicles.
Officers found the suspect, who they identified as Shakur James. James ran from police but was taken into custody after a brief foot chase.
Police officials say James admitted to trying to find unlocked vehicles to steal from. The department also alleges he was arrested previously for similar offenses.
Jefferson Hills residents are encouraged to check their vehicles to ensure nothing is missing.
James was taken to the Allegheny County Jail on charges of evading arrest on foot and criminal attempt of loitering and prowling at night.
