Police say initial reports found a male suspect ran from the scene, accompanied by a woman.
Officers later arrested a man near the 16th Street Bridge. The woman he was with was taken in for questioning.
“It doesn’t surprise me. A lot of stuff comes down around here,” said Eric Williamson, who lives on the North Shore.
Channel 11 has reported on a series of violent crimes at the intersection. In 2022, three people were shot and killed. In June of 2024, police say a man was shot. In March 2025, a woman was allegedly strangled.
Neighbors, including Williamson, want an increased police presence.
“Half of the time, the cops, they just ride past. They do something when something happens. If you could prevent it, stop it before it happens,” said Williamson.
Others like Codi Hardgraves agree.
“Probably just more cameras, more cops walking around,” said Hardgraves.
In a statement to Channel 11, Pittsburgh police said they are “considering all options to maintain public safety, including an increased presence.”
The man who was stabbed was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
