Police searching for ‘armed and dangerous’ suspect after man found shot in New Castle front yard

Alexander Lee Minnich (New Castle Police Department)

NEW CASTLE, Pa. — New Castle police are asking for help finding a shooting suspect who they said is considered armed and dangerous.

Alexander Lee Minnich, 29, is facing several charges, including attempted homicide.

On Sunday around 7:02 p.m., officers were called to 1014 Butler Avenue and found a man who had been shot in the front yard.

The victim told officers he was shot by a man with a rifle from inside the home. He was taken to a Youngstown hospital.

At the time, police said they believed Minnich was still inside the home. Officers tried to get him to come out, but there was no response. The Lawrence County Critical Incident Response Team was called because they believed Minnich could have been barricaded inside the house with a gun. The team eventually entered the home, and he was not inside.

New Castle police are asking for anyone who has information on Minnich’s whereabouts to call their dispatch center at 724-656-9300 to report it.

Police said to use caution and call 911 immediately if you see Minnich.
