Man pleads guilty to illegally killing 16-point buck in Allegheny County

ALLEGHENY COUNTY, Pa. — A man has pleaded guilty to illegally killing a 16-point trophy buck before the hunting season started in Allegheny County.

The Pennsylvania Game Commission’s Southwest Region alleges Jason Diaz, 33, illegally shot the buck and an antlerless white-tailed deer in September, two weeks before the hunting season began.

Diaz then reportedly posted pictures and details of his hunt to a community hunting Facebook page. Someone recognized the deer and knew that it was in an area that wasn’t open to deer hunting yet, the commission said.

Jason Diaz, 33, pleaded guilty to unlawful killing of big game during a closed season and taking of game. He was ordered to pay $1,500 in fines and could have his license revoked.
